There will be several guests at the meeting including Jack Newcomb, Quad Enterprise Facilitation and two representatives from Rural Development. An agenda will be sent by e-mail later today. Why Do We Volunteer??? I was reading an article from KSU Extension on Leadership Development. It explained that people usually volunteer when motivated by these five categories – Achievement, Power, Affiliation, Recognition and Altruism. I’m sure that the first four are recognizable. Altruism means to prefer doing things for the general good or public interest, working with other groups with shared values and goals. The article continues with this, “People often feel motivated to continue because they like what they do and feel their contribution is worthwhile.” Hopefully, all of us involved with the ABCDE project are enjoying it and feel that a difference is being accomplished. There was a man in my store this weekend that didn’t know me and said, “I’ve been hearing about Eastern Cowley County – there is a lot going on over here.” I just smiled! City Council Workshop Scheduled with Larry Baer Larry
Baer, General Counsel with the League of Kansas Municipalities, Leroy
Alsup, and Bill Taylor came to the ABCDE area to speak to the city
